Okay, so motherhood and CRU are some of the biggest blessings in my whole life. I am so grateful for my family at home as well as my work family. I wouldn't trade either for the world!
For those of you mom-bosses out there, first of all, SLAY! Second of all, I wanted to share my story with you and hopefully inspire and empower you to be your awesome self.
Here's my two cents!
What is your favorite thing about being a mother?
I think sharing this life with them. It is the most amazing ride and to have them in the passenger seat with me is amazing! I shelter them from all of my social media for reasons that I can tell you in a bit but it is so great getting to show them how to fall and get right back and seeing them emulate this in their own lives. They build each other up and encourage each other not to give up and that is one of the greatest things I can give them. That and showing them how to be confident. I remember when Gianna was about 5 I took her to a cocktail event and when we walked into the room she tugged on my hand and said mom everyone is staring at us and I replied back that is when you smile even bigger and hold your head high. Its important to learn how to have confidence at a young age because that in itself will take you far.
What is the best part of your job?
Every single day is different. I constantly push myself to think outside of the box and I love that I have the opportunity to do that. My life is filled with travel. Some places most would hesitate to get off the airplane and inspire strength and motivation to help impact a culture and other places that are luxurious and inspire design and creativity. My days are filled with the strongest minds that work to push each other forward. If I could describe my dream job and life this would most certainly be it.
Is there a time you felt defeated and as if you weren’t the mother you hoped to be?
Oddly no. I'm confident in the mother that I am. Could I improve in different ways sure but I started this company to show my girls that they could do anything that they dreamt of and to be able to show them how to be strong woman. That was always my number one goal as a mother. Now they are seeing first hand how to be fearless and be a voice in the world through whatever their passion leads them to. First we are a voice to help others and we have a blast while doing it.
Any advice you would give to future boss ladies out there?
I was just a young girl who dared to dream of bigger things and was willing to leave my old life behind. There was absolutely nothing to loose. People will laugh and say who do you think you are to dream and think you are capable of competing with grandfathered brands. They will continue to speak up as you conquer that and switch their voice to say ehhh look at her life there is no way she is holding all of this together. After that phase then they start calling asking to be a part of what you are doing. I refused to take a number and sit in my own life and be a follower. You must only rely on yourself to gain your own confidence in your own dreams after you find that you will have peace in being the driver and won't ever feel comfortable in the backseat again. The things that others see as scary becomes something that you run towards.
