I don't know about you, but in Texas, it has been POURING for the last week. Most people see that as a bummer because you can't go outside and enjoy the outdoors, but I am a firm believer in making the most of the moment. When the Lord closes a door, he always opens a window!
I'm not talking about opening windows during a rainstorm (though it is relaxing to listen to until you realize your wooden floor is ruined). I'm talking about Netflix! A rainy day is a PERFECT excuse to snuggle up on the couch wrapped in a fuzzy blanket, bust out the popcorn, and watch a movie with the family.
There's always a balancing act between movies your kids will enjoy and movies that you and your hubby can get a kick out of too. Of course we want our kids to enjoy a movie that is appropriate for their eyes, but that doesn't mean you have to be bored out of your mind the entire time. That's why I look for Parent Friendly movies for those nights where you want some quality family time where nobody is left behind or forgotten... 💖
So parents, let's get that popcorn popping with this Parent Friendly list of Family movies!
- The Incredibles
Kids love the action and flare, and sass in this movie, while adults enjoy the James Bond undertone created by this Disney Movie about a family of superheros. Beneath the surface of their supersuits, there's a relatable family with their own downfalls and sweet moments in this movie. Absolutely love watching something so oddly real!
- Finding Nemo
There's something fishy about how relatable Marlon is to me as a parent... ;-) When he loses his son, he goes on wild adventures throughout the sea, and in his journey, he rediscovers his wild side in hopes of finding Nemo. This is a classic for any family!
OH and of course Ellen DeGeneres plays Dory, so how could you not love this quirk!!!
- How to Train your Dragon
For any pet-loving family, this is an adorable movie about a social outcast who learns to tame dragons. It's totally cute because of how puppy-like his dragon becomes, and it's sweet to see a bond strengthen between the boy and his dragon.
The second movie is about the boy and his parents, but beware!!! It's a bit of a tear jerker.
- The Emperor's New Groove
This is a little silly, but humorous enough for adults to enjoy it too. The adventures of a conceited Emperor-turned-Llama with a selfless family-oriented father are loads of fun for the whole family!
You have to admit, Disney princess movies are figuring it out. Tangled is one of my family's favorite movies to watch together, because the girls love Rapunzel, and we love the humor from Flynn Rider. It's such a whimsical journey of a fugitive and a princess who has never been outside of her tower before.
It is SOOO cute too! You'll be singing "At last I see the lights" FOREVER.
- Monsters Inc.
This is one of my favorite family movies! The concept is a little bizarre-- Monsters that run a power plant using "scream power"-- but I promise it's really a friendly movie even for little ones! I mean really, do those guys look scary to you? It has office humor and pinch of sass with a playful story so both kids and adults are engaged.
Fingers crossed for more rain!
