That's right! Hugs! We are talking about a good old fashioned H-U-G.
Here are 5 reasons why a good hug can go a long way and is actually good for your health!!
1: Hugs can boost oxytocin levels, which helps heal loneliness, isolation, and anger. They also can strengthen the immune system and balance out your nervous system.
Next time I am out on a business trip, I am going to hugging non-stop!!!
2: If you hold a hug for a long period of time, the hug will help lift serotonin, which elevates your mood, making the person being hugged feel happier. We could use a little more joy out in traffic ;-)
3: Hugging relaxes muscles. Hugs release tension in the body and can soothe aches by increasing circulation into the soft tissues. Unless, of course, it's an awkward hug, then I always tense up!! Haha!
4: Hugs are like meditation and laughter - they teach us how to let go of the past and live in the moment. They are a breath of fresh air - a quick moment of relief from the busyness of life.
I could use some of that!! Does this mean I can substitute my morning meditation for a 5 minute long hug? Sign me UP!!!!!
